Rob Nelisse (1966) Visual Artist | Editor | Run Coach<\/h4>\n

As a kid, I endlessly looked at the photo reports in National Geographic. The photos reflected exotic countries and cultures. Fascinating! <\/p>\n

At 22, I decided to start photographing myself. After several years of studying social sciences, I was looking for a practical and applied work form. I wanted to record my fascination for people in the diversity of cultures, lifestyles, and socio-economic processes in images. <\/p>\n

Photography, still analog at the time, had the creative-artisanal dimension I was looking for. At the Academy of Photography Amsterdam, I studied Reportage and Small Studio. <\/p>\n

My toolbox contains state-of-the-art Nikon cameras and lenses (Z- and D-series) with which I can silently capture the perfect images.<\/p>\n

In my free time, I am a motivated runner and run coach, for the thrill and because it’s a physical and mental blessing. It keeps me incredibly fit! <\/span><\/p>\n

Creative Incubator<\/h3>\n

Imageworkplace is a creative Incubator where I collaborate with other visual artists, designers, and copy editors.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

On my first assignement for the Dutch labour union FNV at sanitary ware manufacturer Sphinx in Maastricht I photographed rugged men in white overalls fabricating gleaming white toilet bowls. It was magical. <\/p>\n

From that moment on, the fascination for the work floor as a set for my photography was truly ignited. Initially, I focused mainly on business and industrial photography. Gradually, I expanded the activity portfolio to include filmmaking and copywriting.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n

Every sequence of moments, every series of actions or events has a fraction that, in its ultimate form, reflects the essence of the story. Additionally, the choices the photographer makes about the image (composition, perspective, depth of field, lighting) are important for the power of the image. My mission is <\/span> to capture that ultimate moment, everytime I am in action with the camera.<\/span><\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n

The French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908 – 2004), co-founder of the renowned photo agency Magnum, is the spiritual father of the theory of the Decisive Moment, first described by him in his book Images \u00e0 la Sauvette (1952). Cartier-Bresson’s theory and method inspire me to intensive observation and sharp choices during photography.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>
